Apollo Group TV on Mac
A Mac makes a good first setup: the screen is large enough to check picture quality properly, and you can AirPlay to a TV afterwards. This guide covers both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and the Gatekeeper prompts you will hit on the way.

Before you start
- A Mac running a currently supported version of macOS.
- Your Apollo Group TV account details from your confirmation email.
- An administrator account, since installing an application requires authorisation.
- Knowing whether your Mac is Apple silicon or Intel — check the Apple menu, then About This Mac.
Setting up on Mac
- Check which Mac you have. Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. Apple silicon machines list a chip such as M1 or later; Intel machines list an Intel processor. Download the matching build if the player offers a choice.
- Get a compatible player application. Install a macOS-compatible IPTV player, or the application named in your welcome email. Prefer the Mac App Store where the player is listed there, since those builds are already notarised by Apple.
- Allow the application to open. If you installed outside the App Store, macOS may block the first launch. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section and choose Open Anyway. Only do this for software you deliberately downloaded from its official source.
- Sign in with your account details. Open the application and enter the credentials or activation details from your confirmation email. Paste them rather than retyping to avoid errors.
- Let the channel list download. The first launch downloads the full channel and on-demand list. This happens once and takes a minute or two.
- AirPlay to a TV if you want to. Open Control Centre in the menu bar, choose Screen Mirroring and select your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible television. Keep the Mac awake while it plays.
Keep your details private. Your login works on up to 5 devices. Sharing it beyond your own household can lock you out. Nobody from Apollo Group TV will ever ask for your password by message, or ask for remote access to this device.
Troubleshooting on Mac
macOS says the app "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified"
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the blocked app in the Security section and choose Open Anyway. Only bypass this for software you downloaded yourself from its official source — never for something that arrived by message or from a link you did not expect.
The app will not launch on an Apple silicon Mac
You may have an Intel-only build. Download the Apple silicon or universal version, or install Rosetta when macOS offers to do so.
Playback is smooth but the fans spin up loudly
The player may be decoding in software. Enable hardware acceleration in its playback settings if available, which cuts CPU use substantially.
AirPlay drops when the Mac sleeps
Adjust the sleep timer in System Settings → Displays → Advanced while you are watching, or install a player on the TV device directly instead.

Is there an official Apollo Group TV app for macOS?
No. We do not publish a first-party Mac application. Playback uses third-party player software that you install yourself, which is not operated by us.
Does it work on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs?
Yes, provided you install the build that matches your hardware. Check under the Apple menu, then About This Mac, if you are unsure which you have.
Can I use a Mac and a TV at the same time?
Yes, within your plan’s simultaneous-stream limit. Each active stream counts towards it.
