Pay using Venmo crypto
Venmo lets eligible users buy crypto and transfer it to an external wallet, which you can then use to complete your payment.
Steps
- Open Venmo and go to Crypto. Sign in to Venmo and select the Crypto section.
- Buy cryptocurrency. Purchase the coin and amount specified on your invoice.
- Transfer to an external wallet. Use Venmo's transfer-out option to send the crypto to an external wallet you control. This feature depends on account eligibility and verification.
- Send from your external wallet. From that external wallet, send the exact amount to the address on your invoice.
- Keep your transaction record. Save the transaction ID in case support needs it to verify your payment.
Venmo crypto FAQ
Can I send crypto straight from Venmo to a payment address?
Venmo requires transferring crypto to an external wallet before it can be sent onward. This depends on your account's eligibility for external transfers and verification status, which Venmo controls.
Why can't I transfer crypto out of Venmo?
Venmo restricts external crypto transfers to eligible, verified accounts. If transfer-out isn't available to you, use the credit card guide or another supported method instead.
Other payment methods
If transfer-out isn't available on your Venmo account, see our credit card guide or the general crypto payment guide for alternatives.
