Apollo Group TV on Roku
Roku is the most restrictive of the platforms we support. Its channel store does not carry general-purpose player apps, so unlike Firestick or Android TV there is no app to install directly. This guide explains the two routes that do work, and is honest about the trade-offs of each.

Before you start
- A Roku player or Roku TV on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or computer.
- Your Apollo Group TV account details from your confirmation email.
- For the mirroring route: an Android phone/tablet or a Windows PC. Screen mirroring to Roku is not supported from iPhone or iPad.
- Screen mirroring enabled on the Roku: Settings → System → Screen mirroring → set mode to Prompt or Always allow.
Setting up on Roku
- Decide which route suits you. Roku has no general-purpose player app in its channel store. You can either mirror from another device, which works today but ties up that device, or add an inexpensive streaming stick to the same TV, which gives a better long-term experience.
- Enable screen mirroring on the Roku. On the Roku, open Settings, then System, then Screen mirroring. Set the mirroring mode to Prompt or Always allow, otherwise connection attempts are silently rejected.
- Install a player app on your phone or PC. On your Android device or Windows PC, install a compatible IPTV player app and sign in with the account details from your confirmation email. See our Android or Windows guides for the detail.
- Cast the screen to the Roku. On Android, open the quick settings panel and choose Smart View or Cast, then pick your Roku. On Windows, press Windows+K and select the Roku from the list of displays.
- Start playback. Play a channel in the player app on your phone or PC. The picture appears on the TV through the Roku. Keep the source device unlocked and on that app while watching.
- Consider a dedicated device instead. If you plan to watch on this TV regularly, a Firestick or Android TV stick in a spare HDMI port runs the player natively, without mirroring, and is generally more reliable. Our Firestick and Android TV guides cover that setup.
Keep your details private. Your login works on up to 5 devices. Sharing it beyond your own household can lock you out. Nobody from Apollo Group TV will ever ask for your password by message, or ask for remote access to this device.
Troubleshooting on Roku
The Roku does not appear as a cast target
Confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and band — some routers isolate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks from each other. Then re-check Settings → System → Screen mirroring is set to Prompt or Always allow, and restart the Roku.
Mirroring works but the picture stutters
Mirroring sends the video twice over your Wi-Fi, so it is sensitive to signal quality. Move the source device closer to the router, switch to a 5GHz network, or use a dedicated streaming stick instead, which pulls the stream directly.
Mirroring stops when the phone screen turns off
That is expected: mirroring transmits whatever is on screen. Increase the screen timeout in your phone settings, or use a dedicated device so the TV is not dependent on your phone staying awake.
There is no mirroring option on my iPhone
Roku does not support AirPlay mirroring on all models, and iOS cannot mirror to those that lack it. Use an Android device or Windows PC, or add a streaming stick to that TV.

Is there an Apollo Group TV app in the Roku channel store?
No. Roku does not permit general-purpose IPTV player apps in its channel store, so there is nothing to install directly on the device. Watching on a Roku means mirroring from another device, or using a different streaming device on the same TV.
Which is better, mirroring or a separate streaming stick?
A separate stick is better for regular viewing: it plays the stream directly, does not depend on your phone, and is more stable. Mirroring is fine for occasional use or to try the service before buying more hardware.
Can I mirror from an iPhone or iPad to a Roku?
Only on Roku models that support AirPlay, and support varies by model and software version. If your Roku does not offer AirPlay, use an Android device or a Windows PC, or add a streaming stick to the TV.
